Annual multi trip insurance
If
you travel more than once a year, it is worth considering
an annual travel insurance policy. This ensures you are covered
for short trips e.g. a weekend away, and removes the hassle
and panic of trying to arrange cover at the last minute. It
usually means that:
- Any
one trip cannot last for more than a month (31 days)
- Winter
sports cover is restricted to a certain number of days -
you should check that the policy includes enough days for
you.
Cancellation
or curtailment
Covers you if your holiday is cancelled or cut short due to
unforeseen circumstances e.g. a member of your party or a
close relative is taken ill. Usually included as part of the
package by most insurers, but some allow you to opt out. Ensure
that the amount of cover is at least as much as the cost of
your holiday
Discounts
You can reduce your premium by opting out of some of the optional
features of a travel policy. These are normally features such
as Winter Sports cover, Breakdown cover, Baggage cover, or
Business cover. However, you must ensure that the policy you
choose offers the right level of cover for your requirements.
Most insurers will give discounts if there is a large number
of people in your group, and you all book your travel insurance
together. These group discounts normally require around ten
people.
